Students with Disabilities

The WHO's definition of disability is that the margin refers to any restriction or lack resulting from an impairment in performing any behavior within a prescribe considered normal for a human being. Some examples of people who ar disabled would be those who require a wheelchair or are long-term users of canes, or people who have difficulties seeing or hearing.

An impairment produces disabilities. According to Borman (2004) this term is defined by the WHO as a loss or abnormality of psychological, physiological, or anatomic structure or function. Examples of impairments include: blindness, deafness, loss of sight in an eye, palsy of a limb, amputation of a limb; and mental retardation,

As to the term 'handicap' Borman (2004) reports that the WHO defines this as a disadvantage resulting from an impairment or a disability that limits or prevents the fulfilment of a post that is normal (depending on the age, sex, social and cultural factors) for that individual. Examples of impairments include paralysis of a limb, amputation of a limb, and loss of speech.
