In the short story Through the tunnel by Doris Lessing, Jerry is a dynamic spirit whose insight nearly him matures as he becomes more independent, a dynamic character undergoing an internal change. At the beginning of the story, Jerrys insights ar real youthful as he depends on others. After he sees them going through the tunnel, and existence underwater for over two minutes, he decides he wants to incite them by doing the same. As a young boy, Jerrys insights are immature and depending on others, he also wants to impress the local boys by swimming through the tunnel without much practicing.
By the end of the story, Jerrys insight matures as he became more independent.
He realizes after he gets out of the tunnel he doesnt need to impress anyone. He trains himself to hold his soupcon underwater a minute durable each day, so he can go through the tunnel.
